
Dr John Simonidis
MBBS, FRACGP
Dr John Simonidis established The Melanoma Centre in 2000 in Wickham Terrace. He moved the practice to larger premises in Woolloongabba in 2005.
In addition to daily clinical work, Dr Simonidis is involved in teaching visiting overseas trained dermatologists and general practitioners. He gained membership of the Skin Cancer Society Of Australia in 2006 and is a member of the Cosmetic Physicians Society and the Sclerotherapy Society of Australia. In 2000 he gained Laser Certification and completed an Advanced Preceptorship in Sclerotherapy and has since completed a Certificate in Skin Cancer with the Skin Cancer Society Of Australia, Postgraduate Skin Cancer Medicine with the Toowoomba Skin Cancer Group, and Diagnosis with Dermoscopy from the Victorian Melanoma Unit and The Skin and Cancer Foundation.
Dr Simonidis has a special interest in amelanotic malignant melanoma (pink melanoma) and subungual melanoma (melanoma occurring under the fingernails) and is currently collaborating with the Queensland Institute of Medical Research (QIMR) researching melanoma.
As of December 2023 Dr John is on an extended leave of absence.
